About

Dr. Stephanie L. Derrick is a Los Angeles-based screenwriter and award-winning historian. She writes comedies and dramas (film and episodic) that often upend or examine our modern beliefs about historical subjects. Her comedic sensibility leans irreverent, silly and macabre.

On the non-fiction side, her monograph The Fame of C. S. Lewis (Oxford University Press, 2018) compared the social, cultural and religious histories of twentieth-century Britain and America. Other projects have examined women’s contributions to publishing history, British children’s literature and the history of The Los Angeles Athletic Club. She received her PhD in History from the University of Stirling (Scotland).
